About Subtle Energy

Subtle Energy, opened in 2016 by Maggie Murray; a nurse who saw the need for among other things alternatives to the current state of pain management in her community.  Choosing to step down from full-time nursing, Maggie chose to chase her true passion in life, true healthcare.  It was her dream to help everyone possible through holistic health and wellness, nutrition coaching, and health guidance. Built on tradition, but refined with western personalities in mind, Subtle Energy offers many options in helping with your health.

Mission: Coach the body to lifetime health!

The body is an amazing complex machine.  We all know what we see on the outside and what we feel inside.  As we age, we get in tune with our body - we come to know when things are functioning well and when things aren’t right.  We think about diet and exercise.  We rarely think about the fibers, muscles, tendons and bones that move us until we either incur pain or we simply can’t move. Thai Bodywork is geared toward working with our clients to help keep you moving as the practitioner works with the client to address pain issues and help improve range of motion.

Studies have shown that over 80% of pain complaints presented at businesses are likely to be caused by myofascial trigger points rather than actual tissue damage. While most practitioners tend to interpret pain as a symptom of an injury, leading to ineffective, side-effect-laden treatment approaches like drugs, steroid injections and surgery. BodyWork has a high rate of success with even very serious pain across a wide variety of diagnoses. We at Subtle Energy provide affordable  treatment sessions that are able to treat a wide range of conditions from pain to decreased mobility

Sarah Wikoff

Maggie  has spent years in the healthcare field. With the change in healthcare standards, along with her desire to find natural and holistic solutions, her journey has taken her to new venues. She completed Yoga Teacher Training in 2014. Became a Certified Pre-Natal Yoga Teacher in 2015. From there, her journey took a slight turn as she came upon Thai Yoga Bodywork.

After completing my BA in Management and Finance, I took a job to work for fortune 100 company DuPont and quickly worked my way up the corporate ladder. With a plush job and plenty of cash flow, I decided to give up that security for my dream job that would allow me to impact the lives of others. Managing a gym has led me to so many new open doors and continues to provide new pathways for me to help others. Never do I despise a Monday nor feel like I’m ever going to work, I’m truly living my dream job.

Sarah takes a whole wellness approach to finding what will truly benefit the individual. Something she has always firmly believed in is if health and wellness were an easy to be perfect at, we would all be in optimal health; it isn’t and sometimes we all just need an outsider’s perspective to help make steps toward an attainable healthy lifestyle.

Why Restorative Bodywork?

Thai Yoga Bodywork developed more than 2000 years ago in Thailand, Restorative Bodywork is unique from other forms of bodywork. It combines yoga, and acupressure along energy meridians known as the “Sen,” in a nurturing dance; often times thought of as healing energy work. The practitioner (without harsh physical force) uses their body in leverage and interactive work to treat the client’s whole body along the energy lines. The effect is greater flexibility, deeper relaxation, and connected energy flow; the body becomes refreshed.
Thai Bodywork treats the whole body in four positions: supine, side-lying, prone and sitting.  The process itself is meditative for both client and practitioner and takes between 1½ to 2 hours.  Clients often report feeling "longer," "expanded," "looser," "deeply relaxed," "refreshed" and more aware of their body. It can have therapeutic benefit for many conditions, especially tight hamstrings and general stiffness, muscular aches in low back, hips, and shoulders, as well as mild rheumatoid arthritis.  The deep relaxation and energy work impart a long-lasting afterglow of well-being.  A great aid in both recovering and maintaining good health
Energy. Mobility. Endurance. Thai Yoga Bodywork helps one recover and maintain good health. Athletes will find pain and muscle tension relief, ability to recover more quickly allowing one to return to performance energy levels. All will find benefits from stretching; you don’t have to be flexible to experience benefits from Thai bodywork.
It is never too late to change your unhealthy habits to habits that will support the quality and longevity of your life!
Bodywork facilitates circulation because the pressure created by the contract / relax technique actually moves blood through the congested areas. The release of this same pressure causes new blood to flow in. The squeezing and pulling also flushes lactic acid from the muscles and improves the circulation of the lymph fluid which carries metabolic waste away from muscles and internal organs, resulting in lower blood pressure and improved body function.

How Thai Bodywork works

During a typical bodywork session, I use my core muscles and body weight in various sequences that work your muscles and surrounding tissues. I focus on increasing your overall mobility as well as addressing any specific pain issues.

By using my hands, feet, compressions, thumbing, stretching, range of motion, and addressing appropriate trigger points,
normal movement is restored, pain is reduced and tightness is decreased.

What is involved in a session?

Maggie Murray, Subtle Energy

You must come to the session in loose, comfortable clothing and remains fully clothed. A quick assessment is completed to determine health history, surgeries, prescribed or self-medication, structural alignment and what pain issues, if any, are present. The sequence determined is delivered with the client both lying and sitting in various postures on a warm Bio-Mat on the floor. The bodywork sequence starts at the feet and works up to the head returning to the feet as the session comes to an end.
Balance in each section of the body is key to body harmony and the releasing of tension. What is applied to the left side is applied to the right before moving forward to the next section.
When necessary, a bodywork contract/relax technique is used to retrain muscle fibers that have become dysfunctional and cause pain patterns in the body.
A bodywork session is typically 90 minutes.
